Patty Page is the Director of Nutrition Services at Manteca USD and is a true INNOVATOR.  Patty took the concept of 'Farm to School' to a whole new level. Outside of her office window is the school district’s farm where she buys fresh produce for her nutrition program that is farmed and harvested by the students. Farm fresh specialties include everything from pumpkins to baby bok choy, herbs, potatoes, spinach and every kind of lettuce. On top of that,  Parents and staff can also buy freshly harvested vegetables, boxed weekly, called Veggie Express which is a vegetable subscription service with a monthly fee!

Patty also uses a Marketing Mix for her School Nutrition Program which consist of the 5 P’s:  PRODUCT, PRICE, PLACE, PROMOTION AND PEOPLE.  This is the mix Patty  uses to engage her customers and generate sales which creates a POSITIVE, PRODUCTIVE AND PROFITABLE, EMPHASIS ON PROFITABLE, SCHOOL NUTRITION PROGRAM.

Jennifer LeBarre is a real-life School Nutrition Super Hero.   Her SUPER POWER is her exceptional 'SUPPER' PROGRAM.  Jennifer's School Nutrition 'Supper' Program provides FREE SUPPER to students enrolled, in the after school programs, at 12 school sites. 

As the School Food Director of Oakland Unified School District, one of the largest School Nutrition Programs in the nation, Jennifer and her team provide meal service through the National School Lunch Program for 103 (K-12) Schools and several charter schools.  She offers lunch at ALL Schools, breakfast at 75 schools, Healthy After-Schools Snacks to 75 schools and her PILOT 'SUPPER' PROGRAM to students enrolled in the after school programs. 

*Serves 6.5 million meals per year  

*Serves 46,000 Students 

*68% Free & Reduced with some schools at 90% 

*Salad Bars in 67 cafeterias

Patty Cunningham, Conference Chair of 2013 Delaware School Nutrition Association State Conference created a LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION...RED HOT...RED CARPET State SNA Conference. It was a 'SMASH HIT'!

To Create the Hollywood 'Red Carpet' Look:

1. Rolls of Black Paper covered all the walls of a rather old school to create a modern slick look.

2.  A Mannaquin became the School Nutrition OSCAR.

3.  Hollywood Signs were made to show participants where all the sessions and restrooms were located.

4.  Staff created 'ole style' cigarette boxes to pass out popcorn to each participant.

5.  Red Carpet was rolled out to literally create a red carpet.

6.  Of Course, they hired Maureen G Mulvaney, MGM, to create a 'Smash Hit' Keynote Presentation!
